The work that matters most

10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

It is the first week of school for many, including my own children. Yet, some have already been attending their classrooms and more will enter those doors within the weeks to come. Some are starting kinder which means new crayons, manilla papers to adorn the refrigerator and school plays. For older students this is their last first day of education before all of the adulting begins.

For our mama and daddy hearts it is a tough transition no matter how you look at it. We raise them, we pray for them and hope that at the end of the day we’ve taught them their manners and disciplined with enough grace to make them into well rounded people.

My two kiddos are vastly different in personality. One is on the more reserved side and the other is quite bold. Each of them still has a sweet side and help their mama and others when need be. Raising them will be the most important thing I ever do. I love what the word says in Ephesians as a nice little reminder of how much He plans in advance for our children and even us.

Sweet reader, don’t ever forget that you too even as their parent(s), are important. Even if you feel like you’re not.

In the midst of going to work to provide for their cute little faces…

In the cutting of their sandwich …

In the sweeping up of cheerios …

In the tears your shed after their first drop off ever …

In the staying up way too late to pack for vacation …

In the sheering of a lamb in 40 degree rainy weather at 11 PM …

And even in the packing of boxes as they get ready to move to college …

You are seen.

Child rearing is difficult at times and trust me there are times I want to lunge line them like I do the horses . . . (don’t worry that’s not really a thing at my house … pretty sure that’s also illegal LOL!!). It is all worth it in the end.

You’re doing a great job. Keep up the good work mom. Keep up the good job dad. This is the work that matters the most.
