You’re taller than the snakes in the grass

We live in south east Texas and with that knowledge, one comes to live with the fact that there are snakes always around somewhere. Some are beneficial like rat snakes and some will come after you with when they feel threatened.

With the recent rain we’ve had, I tend to be on the look out for water moccasins when I’m going to the barns to feed. They strike quickly when they feel threatened and their forward slither can reach 6.9 miles per hour. So … it’s best to be wise and vigilant.

About September 2025, I felt the Lord press into me a very specific message. “He’s under your feet.” In that same time frame, I had dreams about snakes coming to harm me.In the midst of this season, life felt very messy. I felt defeated, frustrated and wanted to give up.

The Lord’s message got clearer – “The snake is under your feet.”

Things were clicking. I didn’t have to shrink down when arguments with someone happened. I didn’t have to have my heart race to the point that my blood pressure rose and sent me into panic attacks. I didn’t have to feel the stress in my body overtake me to the point I had headaches and depressing thoughts settle in.

 No.

Why? Because the snake and everything from the demonic world that is set forth to take me out and sent to silence my purpose is truly under my feet!! Because I’m a part of Jesus and everything is under Him.

For “God has put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when it says, “all things are put in subjection,” it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him. 1 Corinthians 15:27.

 Every person against me.

Every circumstance meant to destroy or distract or distort.

Everything meant to cause harm to me and my family is under Him.

Think about this scenario for a minute. You are painting your porch but run out of paint. You discover you locked your keys in the house by accident when you went tried to go inside to get them for your paint store run. You walk over to the table you had your drink and phone on.

You spot out of the corner of your eye a cottonmouth from under your porch and it begins to chase after you because it felt threatened. It chases you down to wear you out so it can attack you.

Sweat is pouring off of you but you can’t stop because you need to either get to safety or kill the thing that is trying to get you. The memory of a shovel being by your shed comes to mind. You run as fast as you can with every bit of energy you have left. You grab it and shove it on top of the snake’s head circumventing a near strike to your ankle.

This is how close your enemy is sometimes. If he can’t send a distraction, addiction (even a simple one like nicotine or doomscrolling), a person, a blown tire to invoke an emotion … you know what his game is next?

Then he will chase you down to wear you out. Because then you’re too tired, mentally, physically, financially or spiritually to fulfill your purpose.

Don’t give up. Keep running to the tools the Lord provides for you. These are prayer, Godly counsel, and your bible.

The snake’s place IS under YOUR feet!!

Biblically and biologically speaking that is their place in the world.

Whatever you’re fighting against, you WILL have victory in Christ Jesus.
